Women in Prison excel in Art workshop

Art and About worked on a 5 week pilot scheme with a great group of 15 women prisoners at Askham Grange. The event was a huge success. The prisoners confidence grew weekly along with their ability to concentrate. Whilst learning new skills they supported each other generously with even the most reluctant learner joining in enthusiastically. All participants achieved a fantastic array of work all based around a theme of 'identity'; they produced beautiful hand made books, a series of block prints, 3D photo box frames and a set of self portraits in only 5 sessions. The outcome exceeded all expectations with work being entered into the prestigious national Koestler Exhibition.
